Confidence in the person of Christ and the wisdom of Scripture coupled with compassion to care for souls.
At Grace Christian Fellowship, biblical counseling began with a simple desire to learn how to skillfully apply the gospel to the struggles of life in a fallen world. As followers of Jesus, we first needed to learn how to counsel ourselves (i.e., apply the gospel) with respect to our own unique struggles.
Biblical counseling is unique to the church as it is anchored in the Word of God, dependent on the Spirit of God, and practiced in the community of believers.
Biblical counseling is intentional and intensive discipleship and deep, authentic fellowship. It is something we all should do at the level we are equipped. The truth is, we are all giving counsel. Whether one-on-one in a coffee shop, or in a small group, or in formal counseling. Biblical counseling is not a new idea. In one sense, it is simply living out the “one another” commands in the Scriptures. It has been practiced since the early church (Acts 2). It can be found in the Puritan community of the 16th and 17th centuries.
It is our mission to restore biblical counseling to the church.
Mission:
Grace Christian Fellowship (GCF) exists to glorify God through gospel-centered worship, evangelism, discipleship, and community.
Vision:
It is our vision to return biblical counseling to the local church in all its forms.
Passion:
Ministering to the believer and the community in full dependence on the Word of God, the Spirit of God, and the community of God to experience transforming life change.
Every follower of Jesus is called to counsel at some level. In that sense, we are all counselors. At its most basic, biblical counseling is discipleship. It is learning to trust Jesus with suffering and sin. In the gospel, we have everything we need to grow as disciples. But growth can be cultivated as we learn to apply the gospel more skillfully to the various struggles of life in a fallen world. Whether you want to learn how to apply the gospel more skillfully for personal growth or you are called to be a counselor for the church, we can help.
